Beyond stitches

Coming from the bustling city of Bangalore and making Kannur my second home has been an incredible journey over the past three years.

I am Bhavana Hallur, currently studying Fashion Technology. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be pursuing a career in this field. Growing up, I had various interests, and each movie I watched inspired me to dream of different careers. However, it was one quiet evening during the pandemic that I realized fashion was my true passion. That evening, I decided to dedicate myself fully to studying this field.

At seventeen, I was unsure about my choice, but my parents encouraged me to follow my dreams and never give up. Their support gave me the confidence to take this leap of faith.

Starting college and living in a hostel was not as easy as I had imagined. The reality often didn’t match my expectations. However, with time, things got better. What truly made this experience worthwhile were the friends I made along the way. From doing laundry together to arguing over who set the alarm too early, these moments brought us closer. Somewhere along the journey, my friends became like family.

College has not only shaped me academically but also helped me grow as a person. I’ve become more independent, resilient, and understanding. To sum it up, there’s a quote that resonates deeply with my experience: "There wouldn’t be rainbows without a few tears." This journey has taught me to be kind to those around me and, most importantly, to be kind to myself.
